Hemp Milk

If you’ve ever had a friend with a dairy allergy – or if you are that friend – you’ve known the heartbreak of a lifetime without ice cream. Thankfully, the marketplace is better today than ever before for those of us with allergies to food. Almond milk, coconut milk, and soy milk are popular options for those living without lactose. Many without serious issues just prefer the taste of dairy-free options to milk that comes from cows (myself included). Regardless of what you’re sipping, there’s a new trend on the horizon for those looking for a fresh alternative – hemp milk. With hemp sales surging since the passage of the Farm Bill in 2018, here are three reasons that you owe it to yourself to give this growing trend a try.

High Point: It Won’t Get You High

Hemp milk can be purchased at many health food stores. It’s produced by mixing water with hemp seeds, which are derived from the plant Cannabis sativa. If that plant name gives you pause, no need. Contrary to some misconceptions, hemp and CBD beverages are not intoxicating, as hemp is a non-psychoactive derivative of the cannabis plant. This is in stark contrast to THC, the component most commonly associated with cannabis. Hemp is incredibly different from THC: it lacks the intoxicating properties of its relative while maintaining a bounty of raw benefits. As the saying goes, never blame the son for the sins of the father (or brother, in this case).

You Can Make It At Home With Ease

Hemp milk is almost certainly sold at your nearest health food store. Regardless, you can keep hemp seeds on hand and make your own hemp milk at any time of year. To do so, just mix 3 to 4 cups of water with 1 cup of hemp seeds, and throw in a dash of sea salt. Pour these three ingredients into a powerful blender, and blend them on high for about a minute, or until the mixture is smooth. - Recipe courtesy of healthline.com

It’s Tasty and Versatile

Sparkling CBD soda will forever be my favorite beverage, but hemp milk is hands-down the best type of milk I’ve tried (dairy included). Better yet, it can be enjoyed in so many ways. Whether you’re mixing it into your morning cereal or sipping it over ice, it’s a rich and earthy treat. Like almond milk, it has a hint of nutty flavor. A little sea salt also works wonders to enhance its natural taste. If you’re looking for something a bit sweeter than hemp milk’s raw form, mixing in a spoonful of syrup, honey or vanilla extract will add some extra flavor. Any of these sweetened forms pair perfectly with a mug of morning joe. You can even stir in syrup or cacao powder for a creamy hot cocoa.

And now for the best news - there’s a version of hemp-flavored ice cream! Lactose-intolerant friends, rejoice! Look for it at your nearest health food store and mix it into our hemp-infused sparkling root beer for a fantastic root-beer float.

It’s Vegan-Friendly

According to recent estimates, approximately 1 in 8 Americans abides by a vegan diet. While vegetarians and vegans both avoid consuming animal meat, vegans take it a step further by eliminating any type of animal product from their diets. This includes eggs and milk from cows, goats and other mammals. Many vegans cite the unethical treatment of animals as their primary reason for avoiding all animal products, with arguments well-articulated by PETA. Like our CBD sparkling water, hemp milk is completely vegan-friendly and produced with ethics in mind. You can indulge in either with a clear conscience.

…and it’s good for you!

There are plenty of reasons to satisfy your latest craving with hemp milk and ice-cream – but did you know that hemp may be beneficial to your health? A study published by the National Institute of Health shows that hemp protein is more easily digestible than most other grains, legumes and nuts. Hemp seeds are packed with nutrients, including iron, riboflavin, zinc and magnesium. It’s also a great source of vitamins and minerals, with vitamin A, B12, E and D in every cup. While offering a rich supply of nutrients to its consumers, hemp milk averages at a surprisingly low 101 calories per cup. There are a number of benefits to hemp seeds and products infused with hemp extract.

Still, You Can’t Beat Hemp CBD Soda

Our products contain phytocannabinoid-rich, broad spectrum hemp extract. Like hemp milk, our five flavors of hemp CBD water are delicious and refreshing. Better yet, each sparkling CBD soda flavor is vegan, non-GMO, and free of gluten, sodium, and preservatives. PCR hemp extract is one of just five ingredients in sparkling CBD soda, and you’ll taste that sweet simplicity with every sip.
